HAROLD H. BURTON. Rare ALS: "Harold H.
Burton" as Associate Justice, 1p, 5¾x7¾. Washington, D.C., 1956
June 20. On Supreme Court stationery to Alan Misner Esq. In full:
"As we are just completing together a long term of Court that has included
more cases than usual I want to express my appreciation of your devotion to the
interests of the Court and of your great help to me in meeting my share of the
responsibilities. I hope that you feel that the experience has been worth the
effort and its sacrifices which it entailed. You may feel proud of your
contribution to the nation and I hope you will always look back with pride to
the 1955 Term as your term." Appointed by President Truman in 1945, Burton
served as Associate Justice until he retired in 1958. Tanned and shaded.
