Quotation on signed photograph.
Photograph signed with AQS: "von Hindenburg". Sepia, 9¼x7. In German. In full: "Loyalty is the people's reward". Hindenburg's loyalty to the German people was shown when, after he had fought in the Seven Weeks' War and Franco-Prussian War and had retired in 1911, he returned to command an army in the East Prussian campaign in 1914 at the age of 67. He retired again in 1919 but returned to serve his people as their President in 1925 at the age of 78. He served as President of the Weimar Republic (1925-1932) and was reelected President in 1932, defeating Adolf Hitler. Pressured by the Nazi Party, Hindenburg appointed Hitler Chancellor in 1933. When Hindenburg died in 1934, Hitler combined the offices of President and Chancellor and became Der Führer. Surface creases, not touching the signature or image. Worn and slightly soiled edges. Lightly silvered.
